Dear Parents / Guardians
We don’t need to be reminded that we are living in uncertain times, with various pressures and anxieties facing parents, teenagers, young children and families as a whole. These may relate to financial, emotional, physical, academic, social and numerous others. – Often it is difficult to articulate what we are feeling and why? For example, at times we may feel strong and positive, ready to take on the day with great gusto, whilst on other days the demands facing us seem overwhelming and we don’t know how we are going to “get through the day”, as per the insert to the right (and this applies to Dads too!) – We may even find ourselves becoming forgetful, irritated, tearful, irrational, angry etc. for no apparent reasons.
May we encourage you that these are all VERY “normal responses” under our current circumstances.
However, despite the extremely difficult times we find ourselves in, there is still much to be thankful and grateful for just as Mrs Lorna Bruwer reminded the JP’s in her assembly last week. This is a valuable life-skill/technique that we can practice ourselves and teach our children… the art of “Gratitude”. We can choose to focus on the positive and be grateful, which allows us to be able to cope with that which is negative and stressful surrounding us… i.e. Keep going when things are tough… And is this not what “Clifton Bravehearts” do? – So, may we encourage you to perhaps even start a list of three different things every day, for which you are grateful for individually or as a family. You will be amazed at how your list grows and you begin to see things in a different light… problems can become opportunities and you begin to become “braver”.
